Christina and Brian

Dear Expectant Mother,

Hello, our names are Christina and Brian. We appreciate you taking the time to read our letter and to learn about us. We wish you strength and comfort as you make this important decision. We are hoping to build our family though open adoption. We want you to know that if you choose us as adoptive parents, that you will always have a special place in our hearts. We will raise your child to know about the love and thoughtfulness that went into your decision to choose adoption.

About Us

We have been happily married for almost 9 years. At the time we began dating, we were both single parents each raising a child on our own; Christina had a 5-year-old son, Cody, and Brian had a daughter, Kaylee, who was four. After we were married, together we had our son Ryen. Due to some complications we are unable to have any additional children. We have a wonderful relationship filled with love, respect and lots of laughter. Our life is truly devoted to raising children and we are very excited to become parents again.

Our family is proud to be ethnically blended. We value the diversity and feels that it enriches our lives and helps make our family special. Brian is half Hispanic and half Caucasian and Cody is part Filipino & Spanish. Christina's sister's fiancé is Filipino and her daughter (who was also adopted) is Mexican.

About Christina

Christina was born and raised in Novato, CA, a town that is about thirty miles north of San Francisco. Christina grew up the youngest of three girls. She is very close to both her sisters who live just down the road. Her parents still live in the house that she grew up in and have been married for almost 50 years. Christina works as a school bus driver part-time. She loves her job and loves working with children. It has very flexible hours with summers and holidays off. However, she plans on returning to her favorite job as a stay-at-home mom. Christina loves animals, especially horses. We love to take our horse to the coast for an afternoon ride or a family hike.

About Brian

Brian is from Livermore, CA, a town that is just east of San Francisco. Brian grew up the oldest of three boy who all live within 45 minutes of us and Brian spends time with them often. Brian has worked in sales for the same dental service company for over 15 years. His job is very secure job and he loves his work. It also allows him to work close to home and he is usually home shortly after the kids get home from school. He does not have to travel for work and he is always home on the weekends to spend time with our family. Brian loves to work with his hands. He loves to build things and is one of those guys that can fix just about anything. He enjoys watching football and loves to cook.

Our Children

Cody, Kaylee and Ryen are very excited about expanding our family through adoption. We are certain that a child will be very lucky to have two such loving and protective older brothers and a caring and nurturing older sister.

Cody is a great big brother. He is 14 years old and just started high school. He is very kind and thoughtful. He recently taught himself how to play guitar and is now taking lessons, which he really loves.

Kaylee is with us every other weekend. She is in the 8th grade this year. She is very athletic like her dad and plays basketball and volleyball at school.

Ryen is 7 and in the 2nd grade. Ryen was diagnosed with Autism when he was 1 years old. His autism affects his ability to speak so he uses sign language to communicate. He is a very happy and playful little boy who loves to swim, play basketball and horseback ride. Because of Ryen we have learned to appreciate every little detail of our children's lives. We like to focus on Ryen's abilities rather than point out his disabilities. We have become a closer and stronger family and have learned patience and understanding in a deeper way. We know that we can face and overcome any challenges that come our way.

Our Family

We believe that children benefit from family experiences and we are so grateful to have a large and loving extended family with lots of aunts, uncles & cousins. Christina's parents, her two sisters, and their families live within a few miles of each other. One of her sisters adopted her daughter, Natalie, so our family has experienced how wonderful adoption can be. Brian's mom, dad and his two younger brothers are also close by and we spend time with our families regularly. All of our family members are very loving & supportive of our adoption plans.

Our Home Life

We live in the beautiful family neighborhood of Novato, California. We live in the small downtown area and are in walking distance of many great parks, playgrounds and schools. Our family enjoys taking our boat to the lake to go water skiing & tubing. We also love riding our horse, Sunny, and playing with the goats, dogs, and swimming at our parents' house. We love camping, hiking, bicycling, but we are also the kind of family that loves to stay home and have friends and family over for barbeques and play board games with the kids.

Our Thoughts About Parenting

We feel that we have many things that we can provide to another child. As we do with our children, we promise that there will always be an abundance of unconditional love, attention & complete devotion. We will insure that a child receives a good education and will always provide a safe and secure home. We will encourage a child to pursue his or her dreams in life and we will fill a child daily with as much love and happiness as we possibly can. We feel that it is very important for a child to learn to be respectful, accepting of others, and open-minded, as well as to be truthful and honest to others as well as to themselves.
