Dan and Michelle

Dear Expectant Mother,

Dan and Michelle We are Dan and Michelle. We know that you are facing quite a challenging decision and we really appreciate you taking the time to get to know us through this letter. We are excited about becoming parents and are very happy that you are considering us as adoptive parents. Through the years, Dan and I have built a relationship on love, challenges, fun and laughter together. It is our desire to build our family through adoption and will raise a child in a warm and nurturing environment.

About Us

We have been together for over fifteen years now and have been married for thirteen years. We are each other's best friends - we share a lot of common. We both share a love of the same type of movies and we both like to hang out near our fireplace and read our books. We have a lot of fun together, whether it'd be exploring through travels, camping, and just spending time talking to one another. We share the same silly sense of humor, and that helped us get through some hard times.

We both enjoy our work, yet we also really enjoy our time together. We are active (love to hike, bike, and we both have black belts in Kung Fu), but we also love to relax and just hang out. We like to spend time watching movies and hang out in our backyard with our dogs, too. Michelle enjoys cooking big Italian dishes and we enjoy dining out, as well. We both have flexible work schedules that will allow us a lot of time to spend as parents.

About Our Families

We both grew up in the Bay Area and we each come from fairly small families. Dan has an older sister and Michelle was an only child in her family. Some of our family lives close by but most live in the North part of California, Washington, or the east coast. We really enjoy visiting with out-of-town relatives and there is always a lot of laughing while reminiscing about the past and just catching up.

Michelle (described by Dan)

Dan and Michelle Michelle was born and raised in a small town called San Carlos, California, which is just 30 minutes south of San Francisco. She has lived in the Bay Area all her ife. She is a smart, compassionate woman with a creative spirit and we tend to laugh a lot when we are together. She is a sensitive and caring person and loves animals. Michelle developed her love for animals as a child. There were tons of pets in her family, so she had some furry playmates with her at all times. Michelle is committed to giving back to the community and has been a pet shelter volunteer for years and has worked on many other volunteer projects as well.

In college, Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration though minored in Art Studies. Though an artist at heart, she wanted more career choices so she opted for a degree in business. Upon graduating from college, she worked in the high tech industry doing various technical support projects for large companies. When the internet emerged, she took the opportunity to go back to school. She went to vocational college and earned certification in graphic design and web development. She is now designing for the paper, house wares, and apparel industries. She especially enjoys designing for children's apparel because she can incorporate her love of pets into her design work - she does this work from her own home, allowing her flexibility in hours.

Dan and Michelle Michelle also loves to travel abroad and has been to many countries. She especially enjoys exploring new lands with me but has also embarked on solo travel in such countries as Spain, England, Germany, and Turkey. She thinks travel is very enriching and wants our child to experience different cultures and places.

Dan (described by Michelle)

Dan was born and raised in the San Francisco bay area, and moved to a town on the San Francisco Peninsula when he was in high school. His mother is deaf and his father is hard of hearing, so he grew up learning sign language.

Dan is a kind and loving outdoor enthusiast. He is an avid bike rider and he loves getting on his road bike and riding the bike trails near our home. Occasionally, he will ride in bike tours that benefit various charities. He looks forward to hitching a baby bike trailer to his bike so our child can ride along with him to appreciate the beauty and the wonder of the world that we live in.

Dan loves adventure and trying new things. Upon graduating from college, he and a friend went to Alaska to do some fishing and camping. They also worked at a fishing refinery to earn some money for the summer. Humboldt State Park and Yosemite have been favorite camping destinations for Dan and he also enjoys backpacking with his friends. Prior to our marriage, I only went camping once with my family. Dan has re-introduced sleeping in the great outdoors and showed me that it can be fun if one is well prepared for outdoor excursions. Now when we go camping, we both look forward to hiking, which includes exploring animal habitats and creeks.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Mathematics. He is a vice president in the engineering department at a large, global software company. What he loves about his job is his joy of working with people and helping them resolve challenging work issues. His job has taken him all over the world - India, China, and Europe. He also looks forward to having our child travel with us to learn more about different people and their cultures.

Our Home & Community

Dan and Michelle San Mateo is a small, friendly town on the San Francisco Peninsula in
California. There are many parks for families and pet owners and parks for bike riding. We are within walking distance to great schools. There are many children around playing in their yards and there are some adoptive families who live nearby.

We enjoy our home and neighborhood very much. We feel that our home is very cozy. We have a big backyard to build a tree house or ride a tricycle and a lawn to play Frisbee with the dogs. We are a short ride away from the beach and campgrounds - we are excited about taking our child to these places for weekend getaways. Our two dogs, Buddy and Scout, are very sweet and protective Labrador retrievers and they both love children. We always plan on having pets in our family since we both love animals.

Our Values

Dan and Michelle We value love, compassion, understanding, and kindness. We also know that having a sense of humor and being supportive of each other's needs is essential to a healthy family environment. It is our goal to support a child so that they recognize their importance, to know that they are loved, and to feel secure and trust that we will always be there - to help, nurture, or even for just a hug.
