We are Kelley and Julie. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about us and our dream of becoming parents. We understand the difficult and important decision that you are making. Your adoption plan is truly an act of love and we respect your strength and selflessness. We want you to know that as your child grows up, we will convey to him or her a deep respect for you, and we intend to listen to and honor your needs all along the way.

About Us:

We have a strong and loving relationship, and we are so excited about becoming parents! We have been together for eight years and grow more in love each year. We've both always wanted children, and as a couple we have each tried to carry a pregnancy of our own (unfortunately we both experienced miscarriage). We are a dynamic family and have so much love to share with a child. We are ready to start our family through open adoption and are so excited about making our dream of welcoming a baby into our lives come true.

We both have professional careers-Kelley is a doctor and Julie is a college professor. We have active lives but we're very easy-going and enjoy making time for our families and friends, and just being together. We also love nature, and traveling when we can. Recently, we went to Jamaica with a group of volunteers to provide medical services to women and children there. It was an amazing experience!

We are spiritual but not religious, and value peace, and working for peace in the world. Our lives are stable and we are ready to provide a loving home for a child.

Our Dreams for Our Family:

As parents, we will give the child we adopt love, security, and freedom to explore the wonderful things life has to offer. We see our role as helping our future child develop self-confidence to pursue his or her interests and special talents. In addition to having fun, we value learning and education, and will offer our child as many opportunities as possible to grow and develop into a happy and confident person.

We are really looking forward to including our extended family in our child's life. Julie's family lives close by in Marin County. Her mom is great with children and ran her own daycare center for many years. Kelley's parents live in North Carolina and they visit frequently and are excited about being grandparents! We both feel blessed to have supportive and loving families and a close community of friends. Many of our friends have babies and young children, and we can't wait to introduce our future child to them.

About Julie written by Kelley:

My partner Julie was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Marin County. She is thoughtful and caring and approaches life in a lighthearted way. She has a wonderful ability to laugh, love and learn. She loves teaching, new ideas, and contributing to the lives of her students at the university where she works. And I know she'll help make learning fun for our son or daughter. She is passionate about helping people and the community. For example, before going to graduate school, Julie taught high school to inner-city youths and worked in a group home counseling teenage girls.

In addition to her wonderful, caring spirit, Julie is super organized and keeps our lives balanced. She loves caring for our home and garden and cooking healthy foods. Most of all, Julie loves babies, and she is passionate about becoming a mother. Her work schedule is ideal for being home with a child-she teaches on campus two days a week and plans to be at home with the baby for the other five. She also has summers off. (Julie's mother will care for the baby on her teaching days.)

Some of the things Julie will offer our future child are a zest for life and adventure, a love of people and learning, and an appreciation of the outdoors. She has also lived and studied abroad in France and Eastern Europe and is eager to expose our child to other countries and cultures.

Julie is compassionate and caring, and I know she will be a patient and loving mom.

About Kelley written by Julie:

My partner Kelley was born in North Carolina. She is funny, playful and serious all at once. Her serious side is a doctor at an inner-city hospital. As a trauma surgeon, Kelley cares for people with life-threatening injuries and I believe her job has made her appreciate just how precious life is.

I appreciate Kelley's ability to find humor in people and situations. She keeps things light and makes getting through the hard stuff easier. She is nurturing and knows "what counts" in life, and enjoys just talking, laughing and hanging out with people. I am really proud of Kelley for taking on such challenging work, and I love that she is able to balance her commitment to work with her commitment to family.

Some of Kelley's hobbies are playing her guitar, taking our dog to the beach, or painting; I think it's cool that before going to medical school she majored in art. She is also a "technology nerd" (a good thing to have in the family--she even designed the brochure you are reading!) Kelley is my best friend in addition to being a loyal and committed partner. She is really excited about becoming a mom, and I know she will adore our future child. She will also share with him or her love of art, music and sports.

Kelley will definitely be a nurturing and tender parent.

Our Home:

We own a very comfortable, charming house in Albany, California, just next door to Berkeley. Our neighborhood is safe and has many young children. We even have a 'tot lot' around the corner. The Albany schools are known for offering excellent education and there are many activities for kids here. We love living in the Bay Area with its cultural diversity, art, and nature for a child to enjoy. We have built a loving community of friends and family, and we can't wait to share our home with our future child!

We truly look forward to the honor, adventure and great responsibility of being parents.
