Kim and Ed

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our family. We admire and respect the decision that you are making; and hope that this letter provides you with a suitable introduction to us, and affords an opportunity for us to meet and have a chance to get to know each other better. If you choose us to be your child's adoptive parents, we will love, support and nurture your child for the balance of our lives.

We are Ed and Kim. Our lives were truly blessed in 2007 when we became parents to our now 20-month-old daughter Maggie, whom we adopted at 7 weeks old. With such joy and love in our hearts and lives, we wish to expand our family through adoption once again. We both have multiple siblings that we have always been close to and have wonderful childhood memories. We will teach our children to love each other, respect each other and have great fun together throughout their lives.

We are Californians by choice. We were both recruited by the same real estate investment company in California several years ago, and met at work. We have a lot in common and became friends and after seven months started dating. Once we got engaged, Kim left the firm and went to work for eBay for several years. We both waited a long time to be parents and once Maggie arrived, Kim left the workforce and is thrilled to be a stay at home Mom.

We enjoy spending time with each other as a family at home. We take Maggie to the park, walk along the marina and ride bikes along the trails. We love to travel and are looking forward to showing our children the world someday. We are big tennis fans as well as SF Giants fans and enjoy attending the games during the summer.

Kim

I am originally from Long Island, New York and moved to Illinois when I was nine years old. My family provided me with a happy childhood. I have two older sisters and we shared everything. We lived in a small town and spent a lot of time riding our bikes and playing outdoors with children in our neighborhood. After high school, I attended College in Chicago where I majored in Retail Management. In the early 90's, I was recruited by a Property Management firm and relocated to California and fell in love with the climate and lifestyle. I worked for many years and achieved professionally what I set out to do. I do not miss the corporate world, I am much happier at home where my work is more important to me.

When time permits I enjoy biking, running and swimming. I am creative so I enjoy interior design, renovations, and graphic design. I also enjoy the performing arts, reading as well as cooking.

Ed

I was raised in Connecticut, in a small town not far from Mystic and the Long Island Sound, with my parents and my three sisters. I enjoyed an active childhood, participating in sports, boy scouts and student government. As a family, we enjoyed camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. I attended the University of Massachusetts, receiving a B.S. in urban planning; and then attended the University of Connecticut, receiving a M.B.A. in finance.

My career has been focused on real estate finance and housing related businesses. I lived in Boston, Massachusetts for several years, working in the investment banking field; and lived for a few years in Ohio, helping to rebuild a senior housing company. I moved to San Francisco more than eight years ago, joining an established company that develops and operates apartment communities throughout the Western U.S. Today, I am the chief operating officer of the company and enjoy the work side of life.

In San Francisco, I was fortunate to find home and love. The Bay Area is awesome, one of the best places to live in the world. Kim and I met at work and married five years ago. We have a loving relationship and try to enjoy life to the fullest. We both had a strong desire to have children and adoption was the path for us. Our family and our relationship is the source of great happiness in my life.

Maggie

We adopted Maggie in March of 2007 when she was 7 weeks old from an agency in Chicago who only facilitates closed adoptions. We are fortunate that Maggie's birthmother is open to future contact if Maggie desires. When she expresses interest in meeting her birth mother, we will encourage her and support her and do whatever is possible to help facilitate contact. We love Maggie so much and she is the center of our lives. We are very excited to bring another child into the center of our lives as we have so much love to give.

Our Family

Kim's family has always been very close although we all live in different states. She has two older sisters, one lives in Florida by the beach with her dogs, and the other in lives in coastal Alabama with her husband and 4 daughters. We lost Kim's dad in 2000 due to Cancer, however he is never forgotten in our hearts. Kim's mom lives in Missouri and is a very active senior citizen. She loves being a grandmother, visits us several times a year and our entire family meets down in Florida for annual vacations.

Ed also has a close family. His parents live in Florida. Two of his three sisters are married and also live in Florida, and his third sister lives in Virginia. Between the two families, we burn up a lot of frequent flier miles visiting each other. We are also very blessed with great local friends with young children. It is very important to us that our family stays well connected to each other and that our children to grow up with siblings and cousins to love and be close to.

Our Home

Our home is nestled on a hillside in a sunny section of Sausalito, California, overlooking the San Francisco Bay. We have a playroom and outside space with room for children to safely play. We have a heated swimming pool and spa which we use all year round and a lovely garden with many varieties of flowers, fruit trees and herbs. Sausalito is a wonderful place for families because of the proximity to San Francisco. Our home is located just minutes from several beaches, a great children's museum, and beautiful woods. We have hiking and biking trails located just down the street. Education is important to us and we plan for our children to be educated in the finest schools available.

Four years ago, we purchased a waterfront vacation home in Florida and moved Ed's parents into it. This home comes fully equipped with daily visits from pods of dolphins that play in the backyard! It has given us a great way to spend family vacations together, several times a year. Our second home has become a gathering place for all members of the family to enjoy activities such as the beach, boating and fishing, as well as the Disney theme parks.

Our Values

Our shared values are deeply rooted in providing a loving, safe, healthy and happy family environment to a child, where respect, honesty and faith are a priority. We want to raise children that can have fun, dream big and know that anything is possible. We really enjoy being parents; it has been the greatest joy in our lives. We are patient and affectionate parents who can be firm when needed. We teach, encourage and reward successes as well as provide support for failures. We want our children to be happy and well rounded. Our children will be christened and raised Catholic and will attend church weekly. We feel that giving our children a good foundation will allow them to make choices that suit them in the future.

We have tremendous respect and admiration for the love you have for your child and for the choice you are making. We would love the opportunity to meet you and appreciate your consideration of us as adoptive parents for your child.
