San Francisco Open Adoption Attorneys
A Choice That Can Work for Everyone
Open adoption allows you, the expectant mother, to choose who will adopt and raise your child. Open adoptions are very different from traditional adoptions, where the birth mothers' wishes were not considered.
At the Adoption Law Offices of Adams & Romer in San Francisco and Sonoma County, we help you find a family that meets your specific requirements. We work with all different kinds of families who would love to adopt a child through the open adoption process. Our law firm screens prospective parents to make sure they have the commitment, resources and love to raise a child.
"Adoptive parents and birth parents want the best for the child, so when an adoption goes forward, it is a positive outcome for all."
— Attorney Susan Romer
Matching Expectant Mothers With Prospective Families
Please take some time to meet our families and read their profiles. If you see someone you think would make a good parent to your child, contact us. We will arrange for you to meet and learn more about them. As you get to know them and understand their values and priorities, you'll know whether this is the right family for your child. If you don't see a family that interests you on our Web site, we have other resources to explore. So call us at 1-800-U-ADOPT-US.
Continuing Contact With Your Child
Open adoption differs from traditional adoption in another important way. Birth mothers can arrange to have continuing contact with their children after placement. You get to decide what kind of future contact you'd like: photos, letters, and visits with the family or, if you prefer, minimal contact as well.
The adoption lawyers at Adams & Romer will help you put together an adoption plan that works for both you and the adoptive family. The relationship between the pregnant woman and the adoptive parent evolves over time, as trust in one another develops. Often, birth mothers can become like a member of the extended family who sends birthday cards and is there for important moments in the child's life.
