You decide whether you would like to let them adopt your baby.

We are here for you to help make the decision that best suits your needs.

Carolyn

Dear Birthmother

Thank you for allowing me to tell you a bit about myself as you search for just the right family for your baby.  I believe that your choice of adoption is a difficult yet courageous decision made out of love for your baby.  I hope that through this letter I am able to give you an idea of the loving, secure and happy home I would provide for your baby.

My name is Carolyn and I love children!  I recently had the honor of being a foster parent to a little boy named Michael for nearly two years.  Although I was saddened when he had to leave, this fulfilling experience convinced me that I truly desired to be a full-time parent and have now decided to adopt.  While I am presently choosing to parent as a single person, I look forward to meeting a man in the future who will join me in loving and supporting my child.

Me & My Family

I am a native Californian, born in San Francisco, and raised by two marvelous parents in the Napa Valley area.  I am the oldest of three and each of us was adopted at birth.  My dad, a much-loved physician, and my nurturing stay-at-home mom were always available to participate with us in the many events of our childhood.  Our family was especially fond of music and both of my parents played the piano and organ.  I discovered early that I had a passion for music also and learned to play several different musical instruments, although not all at once!  I also loved singing and participated in many choirs and musicals as a child.  As a family, we water-skied at Lake Shasta and snow skied at Lake Tahoe.  I still love these activities as an adult.  My parents truly invested in our individual lives and it is my hope to raise a child in the same way.

I also have an ongoing relationship with my birth family.  Within my adoptive and birth families, there are many nieces and nephews who are looking forward to a new little one.  My home is the hub for activities around the Los Angeles area, which often include trips to Disneyland, the Aquarium, and Rose Parade, as well as taking vacations and spending holidays together.

My Home & Community

My 1924 Bungalow home is in the San Gabriel Valley area of Southern California.  It has a playroom full of toys and a very large backyard with a swing, basketball hoop and plenty of grass for a child to roll on.  With mountains and canyons close, I have a variety of wildlife that tiptoe through my yard after sunset and birds that enjoy the fragrant flowers during the day.  My playful King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Annie, loves to romp in the leaves and chase a ball.  She will be a terrific companion for a child!  There are many private schools in my area as well as activities that are just perfect for outings with kids and I enjoy all of them!

My Work & Career

I have always had a passion for children.  After graduating from college, I taught elementary and high school as well as special education for several years.  I even took a group of sixth graders to Washington D.C. for a 9-day field trip which was a lot of fun!  With all of my teaching experience, I look forward to helping my child with homework while providing and emphasizing a good education.

When I returned to graduate school to pursue a degree in clinical psychology, I never moved far away from my love for working with children.  I am now a psychotherapist specializing in work with adoptive children and families and love what I do.  My office is less than two miles from home and I enjoy a very flexible work schedule that will allow me to spend the majority of my time at home with a child.

My Beliefs & Interests

As a Christian, my belief in God is the important foundation of who I am.  My church is a great place to enjoy friendships with other parents and their kids through programs such as Sunday School and Mommy & Me.  I have been very involved in directing children’s choirs, teaching and leading children and youth groups and love encouraging others through these rewarding activities.  Most recently, I was involved in a community counseling program through my church.  I can hardly wait to share in these events with a child and teach him or her the importance of a strong Christian faith and helping others in our world.

I believe in life’s many celebrations and love to take pictures, video movies and collect mementos to mark each special event.  First steps, a first haircut, a lost tooth and school awards all deserve recognition.  I enjoy acknowledging important moments and will take the time to celebrate these unique accomplishments with my child.  My refrigerator door is full of photos and kids’ pictures of such events from friends and family and I can hardly wait to include my own child’s work with this collection.

Besides music, snow and water sports, my hobbies include a huge list from horseback riding & hiking to golf & cycling.  I love to cook and enjoy entertaining both family and friends.  Traveling to many fascinating places has helped me appreciate people and cultures that are different from mine.  I even spent three summers in Australia!  When I’m at home, I just love being outdoors and taking my dog, Annie, on a neighborhood walk or working in my aromatic and colorful garden.  There is even plenty of room for a child and I to plant a vegetable garden someday!

My interests are very kid-friendly and I look forward to helping a child discover his or her own unique talents and interests.  Since music is an important part of my life, writing and singing little songs with kids is something that I have always enjoyed.  I am eager to share the many songs I have waiting in my heart with a child.

My Many Friends

My network of friends and family is extremely important to me.  One of my dearest friends lives just down the street.  She and her husband are adoptive parents and we look forward to spending future time together with our kids.  Also nearby is my beloved 94-year-old friend, Mary Jo, who stays quite active and is very grandmotherly to her youngest friends.  She always has a bowl of ice cream ready for her little visitors, served with one of her very special silver spoons.  Both my family and friends are very excited about my prospect of adopting a child and can hardly wait to include him or her in all of the love and fun.
