Jamila and Michelle

To a Special Woman:
We are Michelle and Jamila from Eureka, California. We imagine this is a challenging time for you. If adoption is indeed the path for you, we want to thank you for considering us as possible adoptive parents and for taking the time to learn about us. We have been blessed with a wonderful daughter, Abigail, who is almost four. We now look forward to expanding our family through adoption. We want the opportunity to parent again and to love and raise a child into a mature and happy adult.

Michelle talks about Jamila
Jamila is a loving partner and mom. Since the time we first met in 1990, Jamila has always been a “go getter” and a very creative, sensitive person. It was Jamila’s adventurous spirit and sense of humor that first attracted me to her. I admire her involvement in helping to make our community a better place through her volunteer work with our county’s human rights commission. Jamila has professional experience and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, but the majority of her time is now spent with our daughter, Abigail. We are grateful for the gift and responsibility of raising a child, and we are fortunate that Jamila is a stay-at-home mom. She is a loving and fun mom and there is no doubt that she will extend that love, attention and dedication to our next child.

Jamila talks about Michelle
Michelle is a gentle and patient person. Her wonderful combination of intellect and ability to be silly, as well as her zest for dancing are what first drew me to her. Michelle is an MRI and CT Technologist at our local hospital. We are fortunate that Michelle has a flexible schedule that allows her to be home four days each week. She spends time with Abigail filling the hummingbird feeder or gardening on most sunny days. Michelle is a devoted, thoughtful and fun partner, co-parent and mom. Not to mention, a great cook! She often engages Abigail in some kind of homemade learning experiment. Michelle and I share a love for travel, nature and adventure, as well as for making new friends.

Abigail

Our daughter has brought a new dimension to our lives that we could never have dreamt possible. To see her develop and grow into her own person has been a tremendous blessing to us. Horseback riding, swimming, skiing, bowling, going to parks, singing, dancing and just “hanging out” are just a few of the fun things we like to do as a family. Abigail loves insects and animals and playing with our dog, Codi. Abigail is very respectful, protective and nurturing of our friends’ younger children. She will make a loving older sister.

Our Home
Eureka is a family-oriented town north of San Francisco on the coast near the Redwoods. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac in a cozy and inviting house. Our kid-friendly backyard is perfect for tossing the ball, playing tag, picking strawberries and blueberries, or cooking on the barbeque.

Our community has numerous parks, including a beautiful redwood park in the middle of town. The local schools are excellent, and there are wonderful opportunities for extra activities, including sports, various artistic pursuits, and music.

Our Values
Family is central to us. We stay in close contact with our families, visiting them in various Western states or welcoming their visits to us. We are also fortunate to have extended family and friends nearby. We often gather for special occasions where we see our cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents, all of whom are excited to welcome another family member.

We are loving and spiritual individuals. We are raising Abigail to have a personal and loving relationship with her self, others, and God. We believe that one’s spirituality is a personal decision. We have a healthy respect for many different faiths, and we seek to obtain a deeper understanding of the many ways in which people experience their spirituality. We attend a local church and always enjoy participating in our various church and community activities, including providing childcare for mothers who are ill or in need. We plan to provide a positive spiritual and community experience for our children and support them and respect them as they grow into adulthood and discover their own spiritual beliefs and practices.
