![]() Linda and MichaelLife can provide some really amazing surprises. One of those was when we met at work seven years ago. Our love for each other continued to grow. We tied the knot a little more than three years ago. Now we have set our hearts on adopting a baby to fill the big empty spot in our nest. We've got lots and lots of love to go around! Dear Birthmother, Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We respect that you are in the process of making a very personal decision about the future for your baby. We'd like to share as much as possible about us to help you choose the right family for your baby. A Few Snapshots of Us Dinnertime Our favorite time of the day is dinnertime. We talk and share events of the day while we 're cooking in the kitchen and having dinner. Of course there 's always the extra table setting for a friend who happens to drop in. Being able to laugh together is an important ingredient. Michael is a master at bringing humor to the table. It 's Saturday morning The fog is just lifting as we make our early morning trip to the farmer 's market to stock up on fresh organic fruits and vegetables for the week. We 're also looking forward to the culinary experience at the market, sampling different kinds of cheese or flavored olive oil, and learning about exotic edible mushrooms. The street musicians captivate small children of all ages; some children are dancing or shyly putting a coin in the performer 's hat. A Sunday afternoon at home We're heading out for a walk in the park with our friends. Later in the afternoon we'll play scrabble or a few sets of table tennis. Michael is hard to beat in either game. Unless household chores are calling, Linda may peruse some magazines, give mom and dad a call, try out a new gourmet recipe. Michael may be found lounging on the couch with a good book, or watching his beloved Niners or Giants with a buddy. If we haven 't subscribed to a totally lazy day, Michael will head to the gym for a workout and Linda will go lap a mile at the swimming pool before dinner. Vacation time Our all-time favorite summer getaway is camping, especially in the Redwood Forests along the Northern California coast and the beaches of the Oregon coast. In the winter we spend time in the Sierras, skiing and snow shoeing. We realize how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful place with breathtaking nature right at our doorstep. Reunion time In spite of living miles apart from some of our best friends and family, we get together often. We plan yearly family reunions in Europe, New York or California. We're always finding a reason to celebrate, be it birthdays, graduations or other life milestones.
Linda I grew up in Salzburg, Austria, where The Sound of Music was filmed. In fact, the house I lived in for the first 10 years of my life was right across the Lake from the Von Trapp family's house. I was raised in a bilingual household (American mother and Austrian father) as the oldest of four (one younger sister and two younger brothers). I lived in Austria for most of my childhood and after graduating from college I moved back to the US permanently, first to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where my family roots are, then to the San Francisco Bay Area in California. After high school I decided to become a physical therapist and help people regain their quality of life and independence after a disabling injury or disease. Since then, I 've gone to graduate school to earn my Master 's degree. This opened the door to teaching physical therapy at the University and doing research in the field of gerontology. Building on all of this experience, I am now working with a large health care organization as an administrative leader to help improve the quality and cost of care, especially in light of rising health care and insurance costs. I am pleased to have made a number of contributions to society and health care in my career, but I am ready to begin another life chapter, that of being a full-time mother. Michael Originally from New York City, I grew up as the youngest of three (an older brother and sister). I have lived in California for more than half my life now. I am a medical doctor with a specialty in endocrinology, which means I take care of people with diabetes and thyroid or other hormonal problems. My goal is to help improve people 's health or prevent them from getting a disease they might be at risk for. I find my work as physician and the opportunity to help people very gratifying. I have two biological children from my first marriage, Amara and Brendan. They are both in college now. Brendan is very musically talented. He performs solo on occasion, singing and playing the guitar. He also creates his own lyrics and music (alternative rock). Amara is currently attending UCLA and thinking about studying law. My fondest memory from when they were young was reading to them. This is one of the many things I look forward to being able to do again. Our Neighborhood and Home We live in the Oakland hills, in a very safe area called Montclair. We 're close to parks and 2 minutes from downtown Montclair. It offers fun stores, libraries, bookstores, and an excellent preschool and elementary school. Our house is bright and sunny, with a large backyard, and is located at the end of a cul-de-sac. The neighborhood is very family oriented. Kids ride their bikes up and down the street. The neighborhood cats and dogs are also very kid friendly. Gus, Tucker and Remi, our three family cats, have a very gentle disposition and love to snuggle together. Gus and Tucker are up there in their years. Remi joined us last year. Although a year old now, she is constantly luring her two feline companions into playing with her.
We both love children and would love to raise children together because of the joy and love children bring, and because of the love, nurturing and safety we know we can provide them. Our commitment is to provide a child with a happy childhood, a loving home, and a safe place to learn and grow. Developing skills as a team player through games and team sports, learning about the miracles of nature, and being encouraged to develop the natural talents, such as art and music, are important parts of a well-rounded education. We also value religious teachings and learning the principles of faith, forgiveness and unconditional love. As life long learners ourselves, we will explore many things together as a family, such as camping trips and visits to other countries and cultures. Actually every day is a new opportunity to share wonderful experiences and to build lasting memories. We can hardly wait to share things like visits to the zoo, planting a little vegetable garden and watching it grow, or reading favorite books together. Once we started exploring adoption as the way to fulfill this dream, we became very excited and hopeful about the prospect of growing our family through open adoption. In Closing We appreciate the courage and love it takes in making your decision and we know you want to make the absolute best decision for your child. We 'd like to help answer any of your questions about us. Please feel free to contact us. We can be reached through our Adoption Attorney, Susan Romer at 1-800-U-Adopt-Us or directly by email at michelinmail@comcast.net. If you 'd like us to call you, please include your phone number in your email. Thanks again for taking the time to read our letter. We look forward to hearing from you.
