We are here for you to help make the decision that best suits your needs.

Margaret and Ross

We are Margaret and Ross and we live in San Francisco. Our dream of becoming parents came true four years ago when we adopted our son Jack at birth. We look forward to extending our family by adopting another child. We can only imagine how difficult a decision you are making, but hopefully this letter will give you a sense of who we are.

About Us
We met each other twelve years ago and have been married for ten. We are each other’s soul mates and feel very lucky to have found each other. Being parents has added an incredible new dimension to our relationship. The daily joys and challenges of parenthood have enriched our lives in ways we never could have imagined, and we can’t wait to welcome another child into our family.

We live in a friendly neighborhood within walking distance of schools, a library and parks. We have a beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay and the hills beyond. After we bought our house, our first project was to pull out an overgrown tangle of weeds and create a backyard filled with beautiful plants and flowers in which Jack loves to play. We also created a new kitchen and family room where friends and family join us for the elaborate meals that Ross loves to cook.

We’ve been lucky to travel to many different countries. Before we met, Margaret lived in Mexico for several years helping women from Guatemala make their traditional crafts into a business that could support their families. After college, Ross lived and traveled in East Africa for two years, working at an exchange program in Kenya and with refugees in Somalia.

We love being outdoors, discovering the natural beauty of California and look forward to many family camping and skiing vacations. Jack is a great traveler, and we have already enjoyed many vacations with him, including several trips to Hawaii. We also love just being home in San Francisco, exploring its many culturally diverse neighborhoods, often feeling as if we have traveled to Mexico, China, Russia or other places.

We are both very close with our families. We visit each other frequently, and speak on the phone often. All of our relatives — grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, parents and sisters - love Jack and are very excited about our plan to adopt again. Both of our mothers can’t wait to have another grandchild to dote on.

About Ross
I’m an economist and I work as a consultant to non-profit organizations and the United Nations. My work focuses on public health and raising public awareness of how American companies’ actions overseas affect people living around the world.

In addition to my passion for cooking, skiing, listening to music and going to Giants baseball games, I love spending time outdoors, at the beach, hiking, and playing Frisbee.

As a parent, one of my favorite things is when Jack falls asleep in my arms. We have a great time chasing each other around the house, exploring the city and reading together. As our children grow, I look forward to helping them with their homework, sharing my love of cooking, and taking them to baseball games.

About Margaret
I am a part-time social worker in a public elementary school. The most fulfilling part of my job is helping parents, teachers and children work together to make school warm and enriching. I also love teaching children to solve conflicts with each other. I speak fluent Spanish, which makes it possible for me to connect with many parents and children who have recently come to this country. We are raising Jack to speak both Spanish and English.

I love being outdoors, hiking and skiing, and also enjoy taking dance classes – something I’ve done since I was a child. I am an avid reader, and get together with my book club every few months. I love to work in our garden, and enjoy watching Jack discover the natural world as he digs and plays in our backyard.

I treasure my time with Jack, especially when we are reading stories, playing, and doing art projects. It has been really fun to explore San Francisco with Jack and to take him to places like the farmers’ market, swim class, Golden Gate Park, the beach, and to story hour at the local library. Being a parent gives me a chance to see the world again through a child’s eyes. I know that Jack, Ross and I will have a great time helping a new baby to explore and learn.

About Jack
The best word to describe Jack is enthusiastic. He loves other children, is outgoing, and has a great sense of humor. He loves books, music and dancing and brings endless joy to our lives. We know he’ll be a great big brother.

Our Commitment To You
As parents our goals are to help our children build good friendships, discover a life-long love of learning and share our commitment to making the world a better place.

Our promise is to provide a home that is unconditionally loving, supportive and nurturing. We hope that knowing that your child will be in a safe, happy, financially secure and loving home provides you with comfort. We would welcome ongoing contact with you.

We both plan to take a significant amount of time off of work when another child comes into our life. When we return to work, we both have very flexible schedules, so between the two of us we will be able to spend a lot of time with the baby.
