Michelle and Robin
We have been inseparable since we met. We honored our love and respect for each other in a commitment ceremony in 2003. We are surrounded by loving friends and family who support us in our commitment to each other, as well as our deep desire to share our lives with a child. We own our 3-bedroom home in Sebastopol, California and live in a peaceful country setting on an acre among Redwoods and fruit trees. There is plenty of safe space to run, play and explore. We have two sweet cats named Dexter and Mick who love to snuggle and sleep in the sun. We are friends with our neighbors who have young children of their own, including a newborn. We are also lucky to have our own extended family very close by.
Professionally, I have been in banking for the last 15 years and 3 years ago I was promoted to Administrative Assistant of 25 North Coast branches of Washington Mutual Bank. I love my position there, as it is creative, challenges me daily and has created financial security. In college, I studied Early Childhood Education and worked with children with special needs. I even spent a year in Lake Tahoe running the Tiny Tots Preschool and have a lot of experience working with children and their families. I was raised in Sebastopol, California, the same town where we now live. My mother was the most amazing woman I have ever known and she raised me and my two sisters by herself. The biggest lesson she taught all three of us was to respect ourselves and each other. The greatest gift she gave us was her love. We lost her to illness when we were in our mid 20’s and as a result of her we have continued to remain very close and supportive of each other’s lives. Losing her was the single hardest thing I have ever endured. Having the opportunity to some day be the mother she was to my sisters and me is a beautiful way to honor her spirit. Because she was a single parent, she reached out for the help of our local Methodist church where members embraced us as their own. We spent many years going on snow trips with the Youth Group, doing bake sales, singing in the choir and putting on plays. These are some of the most beautiful memories I have and thanks to our mother and our church family, although we were very poor, we never felt we were missing out. My two sisters are Christie and Sherrie. Christie is also in banking and is the glue of our family. Her husband, Kris, has been a source of strength in our family and will be a strong male role model for our child. Their daughters, Courtney, 15, and Cassie, 11, have been an important part of my life. I have shared birthdays, holidays, movies, shopping and school events with the girls. In turn, the girls are now excited with the prospect of baby-sitting a new addition to our family. Sherrie is a professional singer and tours with her musical group. She is also a Massage Practitioner and runs a successful business. She anticipates highly becoming an Auntie again and looks forward to singing sweet lullabies.
I am a self-employed business-person, owning and running a restaurant. Although I work hard running my restaurant, my hours are flexible, which means I would be able to spend lots of time with a child. Robin has been a professional guitarist, playing all styles of music for over 25 years. My favorite music to play is Rock and Roll, yet I love to play all kinds of music. I look forward to sharing my love and knowledge of music with a child. My father bought me my first guitar when I was 8 years old and I’ve been playing ever since. I have had the fortune of touring with different bands and have vast experience in the recording business as well. Music will always be playing in our household. I was raised in Pleasanton, California. My mother and father were together until his death 5 years ago. I consider myself very fortunate to have been adopted as a newborn and to have had a childhood filled with love. My father was a doctor and a pilot and my mother was a nurse. Because of his love of airplanes we flew to many destinations and traveled a lot. I have great memories of traveling as a family to Mexico, Hawaii and Europe. My hope is to travel and share my passion for learning about other cultures with a child. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunities, support, and unconditional love that my parents gave me. My mother is in good health and will take an active role in our child’s life, providing the same love and care she gave me. She looks forward to becoming a grandma. Our Values Our values are simple.
