You decide whether you would like to let them adopt your baby.

We are here for you to help make the decision that best suits your needs.

Pat & Julie

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for giving us the chance to introduce ourselves to you.  It’s hard to get to know someone in a letter, but we will try our best to share who we are with you.  First, we want to tell you how much we admire your strength and courage.  The decision for you and your baby’s future is a difficult one and you have many options.  If you do choose adoption, we hope that you will come to know us, love us and trust us as we travel this road together.  We would be honored to have you consider us as parents for your child.  After 4 years of infertility treatments, we have come to discover that God has a different plan for us. We are thrilled at the thought of creating our family through adoption!

My husband, Pat

Without sounding like a cliché, Pat and I truly are best friends.  Laughter is such a big part of our life.  Pat is absolutely one of the funniest people you will ever meet.  He has this amazing wit and super quick mind, and when you couple that with his playfulness, you get someone who is hilarious to be around.  His sense of humor is only surpassed by one thing…the size of his heart.  He is the kindest person I’ve ever met. One of Pat’s passions is kayaking. The peace and serenity of being one with nature on the water really centers Pat and feeds his spirit. Pat attended college at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts and now is a Senior Global Program Manger for Palm, Inc, the maker of Palm Pilots.  He’s been there for 5 years and his office is just 2 miles away from home.  In fact, he comes home for lunch just about every day.

My wife, Julie

Julie’s amazing zest for life and that “twinkle” in her eye is what first attracted me to her.  She has so much energy and enthusiasm.  Julie loves scuba diving, camping, traveling and being outdoors. Life with Julie is anything but boring. We have now been diving together in Mexico, Costa Rica and Grand Cayman and we love to discover the world beneath the surface together. Julie has a courageous nature that I feel balances my more cautious nature. Julie is extraordinarily honest and has a strong faith in God. I continue to be astounded at her ability to collect information on a new venture and then jump right in with both feet.

Julie attended Chico State University in California where she received her degree in Business Administration. After working in the high tech field for many years, Julie now is a Realtor.  Her job allows her to work mostly from home and provides a very flexible part-time schedule so that she can be home with our child.

Our Family

Julie was raised in the Bay Area about 20 miles south of San Francisco.  She has one younger sister, Lynette  (a third grade teacher) and her parents celebrate their 40th anniversary next year.  Both of her parents are retired and can’t wait to become grandparents!  We are a very close family and really enjoy spending time together, playing games and taking family vacations. During one family trip to our vacation home in Lake Tahoe, our family spent hours playing at the beach and also playing a dominos game called “Mexican Train”.

Pat is from the Boston area. He is the youngest of 4 boys and has 7 nieces and nephews (4 are under 2 years old.)  His mom is retired and Pat’s dad is a semi-retired math professor. His family all lives in New England, but even though they all live on the opposite side of the country from us, we are all very close.  Not a week goes by that we aren’t in contact with someone from Pat’s family. Every year the family vacations together on Cape Cod.  It is our favorite week of the year.   Being with our nieces and nephews is truly the highlight of our week.

Our Lives

We have been together for 9 years, married for nearly 5. We own our home in Mountain View, California, which is about 40 miles south of San Francisco.  It is a beautiful community with excellent schools and parks. It is also a short drive from the beach, the mountains and the city.  This is ideal for us because we love the outdoors.  Biking, hiking, kayaking and camping are among our favorite activities. We can also be couch potatoes, though.  Football is a huge passion for Pat and Julie loves to read.   We also love going to the movies and especially spending time with friends and family.

Our Values

A large part of our lives is our Christian faith.  We are active in our church and share in a wonderful church community. We participate with the church in serving our community by serving food at homeless shelters, raising money to build wells for fresh water in Africa, working in our church nursery, and planning events for the church members.  We have planned camping trips, ski trips, and kayaking and have helped facilitate friendships among the church body. We participate in Bible study regularly, as well.

Our faith extends to every part of our life and will be a foundation of our parenting style.  We desire to raise this child to know God, love others and be an active member of the community we live in. We value education and will support and encourage our child in their education.  Family life is very important to us and our child will grow up with a lot of love and support from all of our family.

Our Promise

As you consider what’s best for you and your baby, please know this:

To you, we will promise you a relationship based on respect.  We will always be truthful and loving in our conversations with your child about you.  We want you to know that your child will be raised knowing who you are and what a courageous and loving decision you have made.  We truly desire an open adoption and look forward to building a relationship with you and talking to you about what kind of ongoing contact you would like.

To your baby, we promise a loving, nurturing, active and happy home full of family and friends.  We will provide a safe environment to grow up in and the knowledge that love is what brought our family together.

Thank you for starting to get to know us.  Please know you will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time as you find the strength you need to make the best decision for you both.  Please feel free to contact us directly at 1.866.690.3082 or contact our friendly adoption attorney, Susan Romer at 1.800.u.adopt.us.
