adopt your baby.
We are here for you to help make the decision
that best suits your needs.

Sara and Larry
Dear Expectant Mother:
Hello, we are Sara and Larry. We deeply respect your decision to consider adoption and hope this letter will give you a sense of us and the kind of parents we hope to be. We are very excited to become parents through adoption. Thank you for considering us.
Our relationship
We met on the Internet (yes! an Internet success story!) and the first time we spoke we felt a strong connection. When we met in person we immediately began sharing our dreams for the future. We have been together for over five years and were married in the backyard of our house in San Francisco in April 2004. It took us a while to find each other, so we feel lucky to be together. Larry is playful while Sara is more serious (though she loves a good pun). Larry keeps Sara laughing and Sara keeps Larry focused, so we make a great team.
Larry
Larry is 40 years old. He teaches science at a public middle school in San Francisco, and often can be found experimenting with odd ingredients in our kitchen as he prepares projects for his classes. Larry cares deeply about his students and loves doing science experiments with them and encouraging them to have fun in class. With summers off and a lot of holidays in between, Larry’s teaching schedule will leave him plenty of time to spend with a growing child. Before becoming a teacher, Larry served in the Air National Guard as a Pararescue Jumper, trained as a paramedic responsible for undertaking search and rescue missions. Larry liked being a “PJ” at that time of his life because it gave him the opportunity to help others, travel the world, and perform exciting challenges such as jumping out of planes and helicopters.
What Sara says about Larry:
Larry is a smart, open, affectionate, curious person who is not afraid to be silly and have fun. He can always make me laugh, even when I have had a hard day. Larry is deeply loyal to those he loves and his infectious optimism inspires everyone around him. Larry loves to take long walks with our dog Mulder and he will be a sensitive and fun-loving father.
Sara
Sara is 34 years old and works as an attorney who represents people in prison. Many of her clients are from Latin America, so she speaks Spanish so that she can better help the people she represents. She represents people in prison because she believes that no person should be judged only by the worst thing he or she has ever done. Sara will take time off from work after we adopt, and her flexible schedule will allow her to spend a lot of time at home with a child, even after she returns to work.
What Larry says about Sara:
Sara is a bright and compassionate person who cares deeply about friends and family. Sara is very dedicated to helping others, whether it’s part of her job or otherwise. She takes life seriously and puts all of herself into everything she does. She speeds through novels. Sara sings in a choir, in the car along with the radio, and sometimes (very quietly) with her iPod on the bus. She will be a loving, devoted and responsible mother.
Mulder, our dog
We rescued Mulder, the friendliest Lab mix on the planet, when he was a puppy. Mulder’s favorite activities are hiking, swimming, and eating carrots. He is wonderful with children.
What we do for fun
We have the most fun when we are outdoors: hiking and backpacking are our favorite hobbies. We participate in an annual camping trip with our best friends. Music is a big part of our lives. Larry’s musical taste runs to rock and some heavy metal, and Sara likes rock, folk and even some country. We compromise with old standbys like The Who and Santana. Sara grew up singing and playing the piano and the clarinet. Larry spontaneously composes new lyrics to familiar melodies and sings them to Sara. We are confident our future family band will rival the Partridge Family or the Von Trapp Family Singers.
We love to travel to learn about new cultures and people. We have traveled throughout the United States and in Latin America. We both speak Spanish and are interested in Latin American cultures. We believe that traveling is a valuable and important way to learn about our world and the people in it. We will offer our children a life of adventure and learning.
Our family and community
Larry grew up in New York City. His parents, sister, and younger brothers still live on the East Coast, but we visit them every chance we get. Sara was born and raised in San Francisco. Her parents live just over a mile from us, and we see them almost every week. Sara’s brother’s family and our baby nephew Jack live in Massachusetts. Though we live far apart we love the time we get to spend with Jack. We are grateful that each of us has been warmly included into the other’s family. Our families are very supportive of our adoption plans.
We live in a Victorian house in a quiet neighborhood in San Francisco, in which we gather with our friends in our big kitchen to cook, eat and talk. We walk to the park a few blocks from our house, which has a playground, tennis courts, and hiking trails. A library and several schools are a couple of blocks away. We often get together with our neighbors for barbecues and dog walks.
Our values
We treasure spending time with the people we love. We are lucky to have family and many friends nearby to share holidays and everyday activities. Meaningful work is very important to us. We have chosen our careers because we are passionate about them and because we are dedicated to social change. We hope to inspire in our children the same commitment to community, and to encourage them to be independent, happy people who feel confident expressing their opinions, living creatively, and caring for others.
