You decide whether you would like to let them adopt your baby.We are here for you to help make the decision that best suits your needs.
Shawn and Debbie
We are Shawn and Debbie. We have been together for 4 years, and married for 2 years. We are very ready to have a family, and our hearts are open and waiting to welcome a baby, or babies, into our happy home. Thank you for reading our letter. We know this is not an easy decision for you to make. We admire the courage and obvious love it takes to make such a decision, and we would be extremely honored if you chose us to be the adoptive parents of your baby. We would like to tell you a little bit about ourselves. We live in sunny Petaluma, a country town about one hour outside of San Francisco, California. It’s a very nice community, with lots of families and children. We live in a comfortable a two bedroom house. We have a nice sized back yard, with a deck and a trampoline on the grass, surrounded by trees and shrubs. Shawn built the swing that sits on our front porch. There are several parks close by, with nice children’s playsets..
Our friends say we fit together like two pieces of a puzzle. We live a simple life, and like spending time together. Our idea of fun is playing pool, ping pong, miniature golf, air hockey, watching movies, or just spending time with our family and friends. At night, we just relax in our porch swing, and look up in the sky at all those wonderful stars. We both love to garden. Debbie has planted lots of flowers in our yard and grows vegetables and herbs in special raised garden boxes. Shawn makes cactus arrangements. We have a dog named Murphy and two cats, Tara and Gizmo. We also keep fish and frogs inside our house. Murphy has a deluxe doghouse with insulation, made by Shawn, who is a very handy man to have around and is always fixing this thing or improving that thing. More about Shawn… (as told by Debbie) Shawn is a creative, lovable, funny man. He grew up in Rohnert Park, California, with his mom and his older brother Richard. He spent part of his childhood with his grandmother and is still very close to her. He also has a younger sister, Gerriann. Shawn always makes sure I have a smile on my face. He is also a very hard worker. He works during the week at various job sites – either homes being built or remodeled. Then on the weekend, he will help friends and family with household repairs, if he is not working on our home. His mind is always on the go. He is always thinking of something to do or to make. While living with his grandmother, he put a rope swing in a tree behind the house. He made a wooden wishing well for my mom for Christmas. He can fix anything, and I love that nothing stays broken for long. He loves electronic cars, toys, or anything with moving parts.
More about Debbie… (as told by Shawn) Debbie is also a local girl. She grew up in San Anselmo, (Marin County, north of San Francisco). In high school, she had the same English teacher that her mother had. When I first met Debbie, I tried to describe her to my family and friends. I finally said, ”She’s like a living angel”. After spending enough time with her to know she REALLY is a living angel, I asked her to marry me. She is the sweetest person I have ever met. She is as nice and delightful as anyone could be. She spoils her cats and dog. She loves them very much. They are like little kids to her. Debbie reminds me of my grandmother who raised a dozen kids, including me. I know Debbie will make a great mother. Debbie and my grandma are even both Geminis. Debbie loves to cook, bake and garden – also just like my grandma. She makes our home very comfortable with her creativity – making soap, beadwork, her beautiful photographs, and her original sketches.
More about our Families… We have lots and lots of family – most within 30 minutes of where we live. Just around the corner from where we live is Debbie’s brother, Alan, and his wife, Stephanie. Debbie’s parents live down in Fairfax, not far away. Debbie’s sister, Catie, is in Portland, Oregon. Debbie also has 2 foster sisters. Toni lives in San Rafael and has her own sewing business. Rita lives in Sebastopol with her husband Bob, and they have five children. As we mentioned earlier, Shawn is very close to his grandma. She lives in Sebastopol (another country town close by), along with his brother Richard, his wife Kim, and their son Zach. Shawn’s mother and sister live in Santa Rosa which is also 30 minutes away from us. Shawn’s family is pretty big. His mom has seven brothers and sisters. All of them have kids and all of those kids have kids. So we have lots of cousins who will be great playmates for our child. We have lots of support from all of our relatives around adopting a baby. In fact, we already have countless offers of baby-sitting. It’s a comfort to know that so many of our family are physically close, and everyone is just a phone call away.
We also want you to know… We will provide our child with a safe, secure and happy home, with lots of toys, games, stuffed animals, extended family and lots of love. We will limit the TV, video and computer games. We feel we can teach a child to be kind, patient, trusting, independent, self-sufficient, and not to hate.
Thank you again for reading our letter. We know you have many decisions to make. We sincerely hope this letter has given you an idea of who we are, and an impression of the life we hope to offer our child. We are really ready to be a Mommy and Daddy, and cannot wait to hear the pitter patter of little feet.
