You decide whether you would like to let them
adopt your baby.
We are here for you to help make the decision
that best suits your needs.
Tricia and Matt
To a Special Woman
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter! We can only imagine what a challenging decision this must be for you. We want you to know that we admire your strength and the love you have for your child. We feel very fortunate that you may be considering us to raise your child. We hope our letter will help you learn a little about our family. While we have been blessed with our son, Lorenzo, we are excited about raising another child through adoption. We look forward to having our home filled with the love and laughter of siblings playing together.
About Our Family
We treat each other with kindness and respect. Spending time together is one of the things we cherish. We especially enjoy the outdoors and staying active. We have a large extended family in the Bay Area and they are all very supportive of our decision to adopt. Lorenzo is also excited about adopting. He frequently reminds us that he is saving toys so that someday he will be able to share them with his little brother or sister.
How We Met
We met about eight years ago, on a group bicycle ride. We started talking and immediately connected. We quickly realized that we shared the same values and had similar interests. We both liked to exercise, travel, camp, hike, and spend time outdoors. We also had a strong desire to raise children. After dating for seven months, we were engaged, and married five months later.
We are best friends who listen and support each other. We are true partners in decision making and have the same beliefs regarding raising our children.
Why We Want to Adopt
After a year of marriage, we were blessed with our son, Lorenzo. We wanted more children but it became apparent that we could not conceive again. Since we both come from large families, (Tricia has eleven brothers and sisters and Matt has five), it was not surprising for us to want to have more than one child. We welcome an open adoption. One of Tricia's cousins has adopted three children and we also have friends who have adopted.
About Tricia
I come from a large Italian-Irish family. I have four brothers and seven sisters. Because it was such a positive experience having so many siblings, I always dreamed of having two or three children. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I worked full time as a speech therapist at a local hospital. I specialized in working with stroke and head injury patients. I still work one Saturday a month and attend conferences to keep up on my skills. I love photography, swimming, gardening, short runs and long walks. I like working on home projects and I have painted the majority of the inside of our house. I have also taken advanced college Spanish classes and eventually want to be bilingual.
My greatest joy is being a stay-at-home mom and I will continue to do so. Taking care of children, helping them learn, and watching them grow, is what I love most. For me, it is fun and extremely fulfilling to be involved in the daily growth of a child. This is one of the many reasons why I am looking forward to adopting.
About Matt
I come from a large Irish family. I have two brothers and three sisters. I always imagined having two or three children and raising them in a close-knit family. Professionally, I am a manager in a stable software company. The best part about my job is that I primarily work from home. Our children will be secure in knowing Dad is around when they need me. Being called “Daddy” makes me smile. I enjoy spending time as a family, especially in the outdoors bicycling, hiking and camping. I love playing with Lorenzo and helping him learn new things. I look forward to being there for your child as she or he grows and learns.
Lorenzo Describes Life with Mom and Dad
I usually wake Mom and Dad at six in the morning by climbing into their bed and giving them a hug and kiss. Then, Dad and I get the newspaper from the driveway – usually with me on his back so we can play “chugga chugga choo choo”. It’s great that Dad works from home because I get to see him a lot during the day. He lets me play with his computer and copy machine! We usually have a little playtime before dinner when we go for a bike ride or play with my trains (I love trains!). At bedtime, Mom and Dad read to me, sing songs, and tell me stories about when they were little. Every night, they tuck me in, kiss me on the cheek and tell me that they will always love me.
We have many family traditions: our annual trip to the snow, making valentines, coloring Easter eggs, Disneyland in the spring, camping at Lake Tahoe, going to the Half Moon Bay pumpkin patch, and decorating Christmas cookies. We also have enjoyed special trips to Hawaii, Boston, and the Bahamas. Dad and I like baseball. He takes Mom and me to Giants and A's games where I eat popcorn and cotton candy (my favorite!). We often plan outings to the zoo, San Francisco, the aquarium, the wildlife museum, and my favorite, Tilden Park, to ride the train and the ponies. I can’t wait to ride the train and ponies with my little brother or sister.
Our Home and Community
We live in a wonderful community about 20 miles east of San Francisco,CA). Our town has great schools, parks, hiking trails, bike paths, shops, restaurants and a very low crime rate.
Our roomy, four bedroom home is located in a great neighborhood with nice blend of diverse ethnicities including families from Chile, India, and China. Our home has a large backyard where the kids play and our family room is full of toys. There is a trail behind our house where we feed the ducks and ride our bikes. We often walk to the park to play and all the schools, from preschool through high school, are nearby. Five of Tricia's sisters and a brother also live in town with their families.
Our Values
We are caring, patient and experienced parents. We will provide your child with a warm and loving home full of laughter and joy. We believe in spending time listening to and talking with our children. Encouraging development that is based on a child’s unique interests and passions is important to us. We look forward to introducing many new possibilities and then letting him or her decide which ones they want to pursue.
We firmly believe that the more time we can spend with our children the better. That is why Tricia is a stay at home mom and Matt works from his home office. Being part of an extended family provides the opportunity to experience large family celebrations and build appreciation of family traditions with a sense of belonging. Our families and friends are excited and will welcome with open arms a new little addition to our family.
We both have Masters Degrees and value college education. We will encourage and support your child in getting a college education if that is their desire. We have always felt reading to a child from an early age was a great way to bond. It also develops their listening, reading and verbal skills...plus its just fun to do! Social development is as important to us as education. We want our children to be confident, learn how to play well with others, enjoy exercise, and be comfortable being a leader as well as a team player.
One of the things that we love most about living in the Bay Area is the racial diversity. We want our children to accept others and appreciate the diversity of our world. We are both spiritual and believe in God. We demonstrate our beliefs in a quiet, non-assuming way. We view God as loving and caring.
We look forward to offering a loving, stable and supportive home that will help your child achieve their dreams. He or she will have a loving and sharing big brother who will be his or her friend for life.
